S1D2 Dance Academy Policies Overview
Enrollment / Limited Class Sizes
Limiting the number of students in each class can help maintain a manageable ratio of students to instructors, which can lead to better personalized attention, improved safety, and a more effective learning experience. It also ensures that the physical space and resources, are appropriately allocated. Class waitlists are available, when a spot becomes open, students on the waitlist will be notified and given the opportunity to enroll. Upon enrollment, Student/families will receive electronic waivers and contracts, which must be completed and submitted before attending classes. Any delay in submission may prevent participation until the required forms are processed.
Class Attendance & Adjustment Policy
Class Cancellations: In order to maintain an optimal learning experience, we may need to cancel a class if there are fewer than 3-5 dancers enrolled or present.
Small Class Adjustments: If, due to student absences, only one dancer attends a class, we may reduce the class duration for that day/session. However, this one-on-one instruction will provide an individualized experience, and we view this as offering an enhanced value to the student, reflecting a higher level of personal attention typically associated with higher tuition rates.
Tuition / Payment Policy
Tuition payments can be made via credit or debit card. Please note that we are unable to accept payments in cash or check.
Due Date: Tuition is due in full between the 1st and 7th of each month.
Automatic Payments: You may submit a form to the office staff to set up automatic monthly payments from a specified credit card.
Manual Payments: If you choose not to set up automatic payments, tuition must be submitted by 9pm on the 7th of each month through the studio website (your account).
Late Fee: A $25 late fee will be applied to accounts for each enrolled student if payment is not received by 9pm on the 7th.
Credit Card Updates: It is your responsibility to maintain up-to-date and accurate credit card information on your account through the website. If updates are necessary, please notify the office staff immediately to avoid any payment issues.
Declined Transactions: Any account with a declined transaction will incur a $30 decline fee, with no exceptions.
Tuition costs remain the same regardless of the number of classes or weeks in a given month. Tuition is non-refundable, and no credits will be given for missed classes or class cancellations.
Student Safety & Conduct
Safety First: The safety of our students is our top priority. All students are expected to follow studio guidelines and instructor directions at all times to ensure a safe environment. This includes adhering to class rules, using equipment properly, and maintaining awareness of others in the studio space.
Proper Attire: Students must wear appropriate attire for class to avoid injury and ensure comfort during participation. This includes, but is not limited to, proper footwear and clothing that allows for movement. (Please refer to attire/shoes recommendation lists).
No Street Shoes on Dance Floors: Street shoes are not permitted on the dance floors to maintain a clean, safe, and injury-free environment. Please bring appropriate dance shoes or clean, non-marking footwear for all classes.
Respectful Behavior: Students are expected to demonstrate respect for their instructors, fellow students, and the studio space. Disruptive or disrespectful behavior will not be tolerated and may result in removal from the class or suspension from the studio.
Health and Wellness: Students should refrain from attending class if they are feeling unwell or exhibiting symptoms of illness. This helps prevent the spread of illness and ensures the safety of all students. Please email staff in advance of student absences.
Injury Protocol: In the event of an injury, students must immediately notify the instructor and follow the necessary steps for first aid or seeking medical attention per the student medical waiver and severity of condition/injury.
Spring Showcase
Our annual studio Spring Showcase takes place at the end of the dance season. We will provide you with dates and details as they become available. While performing in the showcase is encouraged, it is not mandatory. Participation in the showcase offers a great opportunity for students to showcase their skills and hard work. All students and families must complete a Showcase Commitment Form by the appropriate deadline, indicating whether they plan to participate or not. This form is required for all students, regardless of participation. Please note that there are additional costs associated with participation, such as costumes and other performance-related expenses.
Private Lesson Cancellation Policy
Cancellations must be made 24 hours in advance in order to qualify for a rescheduled date. This applies to cancellations made either by the instructor or the student. If a private lesson is canceled, it will only be rescheduled one time. Cancellations due to emergency situations or weather-related issues may be handled on a case-by-case basis. No refunds or credits will be issued for canceled private lessons.
Class Withdrawal Policy
All class withdrawals require 30 days' notice. Students/families must submit a completed and signed electronic class withdrawal form, which will be provided by the office staff. We require 30 days' notice to avoid further invoices and charges. If less than 30 days' notice is given, tuition for the following month will still be charged. This policy is outlined in our tuition agreement. The withdrawal form must be signed and submitted to officially process the withdrawal and stop future charges.
Weather-Related Class Cancellations
If local schools close due to severe weather, our studio will also close for the safety of our dancers and their families. In the event of 2 or more closures, makeup classes will be scheduled. These sessions are not a direct one-for-one replacement, but are carefully designed to accommodate specific levels and styles, ensuring dancers can make up for missed time. Attendance at makeup classes is optional and should align with what works best for each family. We will provide a sign-up sheet and share additional details once plans are finalized. To create an effective makeup schedule, we will also estimate the potential for additional weather-related closures.
